Hospital Employees Make Impact for Oasis Medical Center

The Oasis Medical Center is concluding a very successful year, full of providing outstanding and free care for women and families. This year, they gained a little bit of assistance in doing so.
Oasis Medical Center reaches patients in 7 counties, including Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo, Hardin, Hardeman, and McNairy providing free resources. Among the services offered at Oasis, a few are: free pregnancy testing and verification, OB ultrasounds, STD/STI testing, post-abortion recovery, and “Preparing for Baby” parenting and fatherhood classes.
As the result of a vote earlier in the year, which polls employees on which specific cause they would like to raise personal money for, Magnolia Regional Health Center employees voted the Oasis Medical Center as the charity of choice to help with fundraising efforts. Throughout the year, employees of MRHC have planned events, coordinated fundraisers, and competed against other hospital departments all to raise money to help the local medical resource. All donations and monies raised were given solely by employees and individuals in the community.
“We are thrilled with the enthusiastic support we have received from the Magnolia Gives committee,” said Matt Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer of Oasis Medical Center. “Naturally we were excited to be chosen as the hospital’s external charity of choice and we knew many of the hospital employees believed in our work and wanted to help, but we did not know what to expect in terms of fundraising. Suffice it to say, the generosity of the MRHC employees far exceeded our expectations.”
By year’s end, MRHC raised $44,496.84 for the local medical center. Oasis does not charge for any of their services, therefore, patients who use their services never receive a bill. To continue to provide free resources to our community and others, they depend on financial contributions to buy supplies, perform equipment maintenance and maintain a clean facility.
According to Mitchell, the donations from the hospital will be used directly toward operating expenses at the Center. With the MRHC Gives Committee donation, Oasis will continue to be able to provide medical and educational services at no charge to the client, including:
· Pregnancy testing
· Limited OB Ultrasound
· STI-STD testing and treatment
· Preparing For Baby Classes
· Parenting Foundations Classes
· Fatherhood Coaching
Oasis is also now able to pair expectant moms with a mentor who provides support and encouragement until the baby’s first birthday. In addition to the parenting classes, Oasis teaches character education/abstinence classes in several local schools.
“Our organization is truly filled with individuals who are compassionate and caring for others,” said Regenia Brown, Chief People Officer at Magnolia Regional Health Center. “This employee-led initiative has really made an impact on the Oasis Medical Center, and I commend all of our team for doing such a great thing for our community.”
Mitchell added, “We would like to thank every person on the committee who worked so hard to make the fundraising efforts a success, and thank you, MRHC employees for your support! Thank you, Magnolia Gives!”
